Palliative care (UCPDOM)

Provided in specialised facilities, and at home, the objective is not the improvement of illnesses, but to offer relief of symptoms, for which clinical treatment would be useless.  So it is aimed to improve quality of life of patients of uncurable illnesses, through prevention and relief of physical, psychological and spiritual suffering. Access to the service can occur through the general doctor, a specialist caring for the patient or the social services.
